Improvements to the user interface and ease of play
An important new feature in this update is the introduction of a difficulty indicator for picking locks. This tool allows players to assess the difficulty of a lock before attempting to pick it, addressing previous concerns about the intuitiveness of the lock picking system. In addition, the developers have adjusted the menu logic; the “Exit Game” and “Main Menu” buttons now remain inactive until the game has successfully completed the save process to prevent data loss.
Technical performance and stability
The patch contains important fixes for users who experienced crashes when using DLSS and FSR. General memory management has been optimized to improve overall performance and several exploits related to the economy have been fixed to maintain game balance. Technical adjustments also include improved mechanics when climbing walls and more reliable navigation of NPCs on the map.
Combat and creature balancing
Combat has undergone several refinements to improve the feel of combat. The developers have fixed issues with targeting and the “magnet effect” and fixed bugs that caused crossbows to disappear during archery sequences. Significant adjustments have been made to the balance of high level encounters. Gomez and the Stone Golem have had their health and resistances increased, with Gomez also receiving an extended range for his attack area. The stats of several common creatures, such as bloodflies, biters and snappers, have been adjusted, while endgame spells now deal increased damage to better suit late-game challenges.
Quest progression and world fixes
A significant part of the update is dedicated to fixing bugs that interrupt quests. The update ensures that players can now progress correctly on the path to the Fire Mage and start the Torrez quest. Timing for the loot of certain items, such as the Key to the Abandoned Mine and Gomez's Key, has been adjusted to ensure they are obtained at the correct stages of the storyline. Other notable fixes include:
- Correcting the completion status of the Forged Rivalries quest.
- Ensuring that Gorn is properly participating in the fight against the trolls.
- Updating XP rewards for the Minecrawler Queen.
- Fixed NPC animations around campfires.
Audio and environment improvements
New ambient sounds and more reliable audio effects for lightning strikes have been added to the soundscape. The healing spell now has a continuous sound effect, and a special voice filter has been applied to Xardas' demon. In addition, the developers have improved sound ducking during conversations to ensure dialog intelligibility and fixed music transition bugs within the castle in the Old Camp.
Installation and version check
Players are advised to remove all installed modifications before installing the update to avoid compatibility conflicts. To check if the update was successful, users should check the bottom right corner of the settings menu to see if the game is running version CL168781.
