Root privilege escalation in Linux kernel affects Ubuntu, Debian and RHEL

A critical vulnerability in the Linux kernel has exposed numerous systems to the risk of root privilege escalation. The vulnerability, cataloged as CVE-2026-46331, affects several major distributions, including Ubuntu, Debian and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Although a patch was developed in mid-June, the availability of updates varies depending on the platform, meaning that a significant number of systems are still at risk.
