Computing power and efficiency

Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors are at the heart of the hardware, with the top models featuring the Ultra 9. The integrated LPDDR5x memory increases the overall speed and at the same time contributes to a significant reduction in power consumption - by 50% compared to previous NUC generations. In terms of graphics processing, the device offers a 1.5x increase in 3D graphics performance, supported by Intel Arc B390 GPUs in certain configurations.

AI integration and data protection

To handle complex AI tasks, the NUC 16 Pro utilizes an NPU with a performance of 50 TOPS, reaching up to 180 Platform TOPS. This capacity enables efficient real-time inference and machine learning directly at the edge. In addition, ASUS has introduced the AI SuperBuild software, which enables the local execution of large language models (LLMs). As no cloud connection is required, the system ensures that sensitive data remains on the device - ideal for industries with strict data protection requirements such as healthcare and the financial sector.

Connectivity and interface standards

Designed for professional network environments, the device has two 2.5G LAN ports to ensure network redundancy. The WLAN capabilities have been upgraded to Intel WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 to minimize latency. I/O is extensive and includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports and five USB 3.2 Gen2 10G ports spread across the front and rear. For display output, the system offers two HDMI 2.1 ports, with an optional DisplayPort configuration also available.

Thermal management and housing design

To manage heat build-up within the 0.7-liter chassis, ASUS has implemented a cooling solution consisting of two fans with dual exhaust ducts, three heat pipes and flanking cooling fins. This design is intended to ensure constant performance under load while reducing noise. The physical design follows the “Tool-less Chassis 2.0” standard, which simplifies access to and upgrading of the two M.2 SSD slots.

For industrial and enterprise use, the NUC 16 Pro features fTPM 2.0 for hardware-based security and supports Zero Trust architectures. The chassis has been tested to MIL-STD-810H to verify its resilience in harsh operating environments and ensure that the device can maintain continuous operation with minimal downtime.

The NUC 16 Pro is currently available from retailers and online channels in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Prices for barebone configurations start at 631 EUR for entry-level CPUs, while fully populated devices cost between 1,525 EUR and 2,542 EUR depending on processor, RAM and storage specifications.
