Steam Deck Sales Plummeted Following Significant Price Increases

According to reports from Boiling Steam, which analyzes Valve’s “Top Sellers” charts to estimate hardware sales, there has been a significant decline in demand since early June. The device slipped from fifth to 14th place in the sales rankings, indicating a weekly sales decline of up to 82%. In terms of volume, estimated weekly sales have fallen from 11,000 to 18,000 units in 2025 to 1,400 to 3,000 units in July 2026. This decline in sales volume has led to an estimated 72% drop in total revenue from the device, despite the higher unit price.

Analysts expect demand to likely stagnate unless there is a price adjustment for the Steam Deck or similar price increases occur for competing hardware. Currently, devices such as the ASUS ROG Ally X, priced at €998, offer powerful alternatives that could be more attractive to consumers given the Steam Deck’s current pricing.

The decline in sales also coincides with the natural aging of the product life cycle. While consumers are interested in a second-generation model, Valve has indicated that a successor will only be developed if significant leaps in hardware performance are on the horizon. This suggests that current market trends may reflect both price sensitivity and a general stagnation in the appeal of existing hardware.
