The FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90 and the New Design Language

The flagship of the new product line is the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90. This model marks a fresh start in industrial design and features a minimalist aesthetic with just one button and one LED. A new integrated cable management system ensures that the cabling remains hidden. Technically, the 7-90 supports both DSL and fiber-optic connections (GPON/AON). It uses Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 for speeds of up to 12.2 Gbit/s and features multi-gigabit WAN/LAN ports. With native Zigbee and DECT support, the device also serves as a smart home hub.

Fiber-Optic and 5G Connectivity Options

With the FRITZ!Box 5630 XGS, the company is expanding its fiber-optic portfolio. This router is designed for XGS-PON connections and supports data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s. When used with a separate fiber-optic modem (ONT), it can achieve WAN speeds of up to 2.5 Gbit/s. For mobile internet, the FRITZ!Box 6835 5G offers an alternative to fixed-line broadband. It supports 5G download speeds of up to 2 Gbit/s and Wi-Fi 7 speeds of up to 3.5 Gbit/s. The device is powered via USB-C and can therefore be operated using power banks for mobile use. It also functions as a failover device and provides backup internet in case the primary fiber-optic or DSL connection fails.

Cable Internet and Network Extension

The FRITZ!Box 6690 Pro is available now. It is a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 cable router with an integrated DOCSIS modem and support for the Zigbee and DECT smart home protocols. The FRITZ!Repeater 6700 Pro has been introduced to extend Wi-Fi coverage. This quad-band Wi-Fi 7 device operates in the 6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 2.4 GHz frequency bands and achieves a theoretical total data rate of 18 Gbit/s. It features a 10 Gbit/s and a 2.5 Gbit/s LAN port for wired backhaul or connecting devices.

Software Updates and the MyFRITZ!App

A new firmware version, FRITZ!OS 8.50, is currently being rolled out. Key new features include:

  • DNS filtering for improved network security.
  • Automatic prioritization of internet traffic for real-time applications.
  • An enhanced FRITZ! Failsafe for connection redundancy.
  • A simplified operating mode for FRITZ!Fon phones to support older users.

The MyFRITZ!App now includes a Smart Check feature. This diagnostic tool monitors the FRITZ!Box in the background and provides recommendations for optimizing the Wi-Fi signal and device placement. The app also integrates a chatbot and direct access to service pages.

Smart Home and Matter Integration

The FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro now features a Matter bridge function. This allows FRITZ! smart home devices and compatible third-party hardware to be integrated into ecosystems such as Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa.

In addition, new energy management hardware is coming to market. The FRITZ!Smart Energy 201 power strip is scheduled for release in October 2026. It supports devices with a current load of up to 16 A (3,680 W) and monitors energy consumption. The product lineup is also being expanded to include the FRITZ!Smart Thermo 303 radiator thermostat, which features a slim design that makes it easier to install on various types of valves.
