Next generation bandwidth and display output

The docking station utilizes Thunderbolt 5 architecture to provide 80 Gbps bidirectional bandwidth, doubling the capacity of previous Thunderbolt 4 standards. For users working with video-intensive professional workflows, the docking station features a Bandwidth Boost mode that increases throughput on the upstream port up to 120 Gbps. This increased overhead allows the hardware to support dual 8K display configurations aimed at creative professionals who require a high-resolution visual environment.

Power supply and thermal management

To support power-hungry workstations, the dock delivers up to 140W to the host notebook via the upstream port, making it compatible with high-end notebooks such as the MacBook Pro series. The rest of the system is supplied with power via an included 180 W power supply unit. To ensure global usability, the power supply system supports a universal 100-240V input and uses an IEC C7 power cord, allowing for easy customization in different regions.

In terms of thermal regulation, Keychron has opted for a fanless design. The housing is made of CNC-machined aluminum, which serves as a passive heat sink. The internal architecture includes a heat spreader and a full-length ventilation grille to ensure stability during sustained high-speed data transfers and multi-display operation without generating operational noise.

Connectivity and system compatibility

The 14-in-1 configuration focuses on reducing cable clutter by consolidating various inputs into a single hub. In addition to the three Thunderbolt 5 ports, the station has five USB ports with a transfer speed of 10 Gbps, suitable for external SSDs and production peripherals.

Although the station is optimized for Thunderbolt 5 host devices, backward compatibility with USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 hardware is maintained. However, performance and available bandwidth will depend on the capabilities of the connected host device. The device is housed in a sleek, vertical aluminum enclosure that minimizes the physical footprint on a professional desktop.
