Sony WH-1000X THE COLLEXION and a new color variant of the WH-1000XM6

The WH-1000X THE COLLEXION focuses on a combination of durability and comfort. The construction combines metal accents with a matte, sandblasted texture and hand-polished high-gloss finishes. The headphones use a special vegan leather that has been developed over two years to improve the feel and durability.

To support long-term use, the design includes a wider, padded headband that distributes weight more evenly across the head, as well as stretchy leather that ensures a stable fit. The model will be available in two minimalist color options: platinum and black.

Audio performance and AI integration

At the heart of the internal audio architecture is a bespoke driver unit. This unit features a highly rigid dome tweeter made from unidirectional carbon composite, which is designed to improve instrument separation and clarity in the high frequency range. The sound profile has been refined in collaboration with professional mastering engineers to ensure balanced dynamics.

In terms of technology, this is the first headphone from Sony to implement DSEE Ultimate, which uses Edge AI to upscale compressed digital files in real time. In addition, the 360 Reality Audio Upmix feature now includes three different modes - Music, Cinema and Gaming - accessible via a dedicated listening mode button to create spatial audio environments.

Noise cancellation and battery life

The 1000X THE COLLEXION shares its noise-canceling architecture with the WH-1000XM6. This includes multi-noise sensor technology that uses 12 microphones and an adaptive NC optimizer that adjusts to the environment. The device has the standard features of the series, including high-quality call functions and a battery life of up to 24 hours.

WH-1000XM6 - Expansion of the color palette

In addition to the new premium model, Sony is introducing a Sandstone color variant for the WH-1000XM6 noise-canceling headphones. This addition offers a natural aesthetic option while maintaining the technical performance of the existing XM6 range. Pricing and availability

Both products are scheduled for launch in May 2026. The WH-1000X THE COLLEXION will cost €649 Saturn and the WH-1000XM6 in the color “Sandstone” will be available for €459.
