While Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 9000 series processors are subject to stricter memory clocking restrictions compared to Intel's DDR5 competitors, these CPUs still offer considerable scope for reducing timings. Until now, most memory manufacturers have sold DDR5 6000 and 6400 kits with standard timings under the AMD EXPO label. The introduction of EXPO-ULL changes this by requiring significantly tighter timings, providing a measurable performance advantage over standard JEDEC kits.
A group of leading memory manufacturers have already committed to the EXPO-ULL program. These partners include G.Skill, which has already introduced a memory, Kingston, Klevv, Lexar, Team Group, V-Color and ADATA XPG.
According to data from AMD, the switch to EXPO-ULL provides a noticeable increase in gaming performance. Our own tests show that these tighter timings lead to an average FPS gain of 4%, with improvements of up to 13% in some scenarios compared to generic JEDEC memory.
