An important new feature is the fake call detection system integrated into “Phone by Google”. This feature is available for devices running Android 12 or higher and checks whether an incoming call actually originates from the device associated with a specific contact. If the system detects a discrepancy, it issues a warning to the user, helping to prevent social engineering and identity fraud.

The update also extends the functionality of Circle to Search for Android 14 users. The tool now supports a comprehensive outfit search, allowing users to identify all components of a look - from shoes to accessories - without having to leave their current application. This is complemented by a new digital wardrobe feature in Google Photos for Android 10+ users in the US, India and Brazil. This tool automatically catalogs the clothes found in the user's photo library, creating a searchable virtual closet.

For family safety, the “Personal Safety” app has been updated with special control functions for children and teenagers. For users under the age of 13, the app now supports the display of medical information and emergency contacts directly on the lock screen, as well as an automatic car accident detection system that notifies emergency services and contacts. Teenagers now have access to real-time location sharing and the “Safety Check” function.

In the area of productivity and media, Google Play Books has introduced a reading companion for selected English-language titles. This tool provides summaries of previously read content via a review function and allows readers to ask the AI about specific storylines, characters or topics.

Connectivity between different hardware ecosystems has also been improved. Quick Share now offers greater compatibility with AirDrop, making it easier to transfer documents, videos and images between Android and iPhone devices. This feature works both with and without an active internet connection.

Finally, Gboard has received an update to its Emoji Kitchen that introduces new combinations to expand the selection of customizable emojis for users.
