The Hardware of the New Pixel 11 Generation

The Pixel 11 features a redesigned camera layout that is 40% thinner than previous models. This change reduces wobble when the smartphone is placed on flat surfaces. The standard model features an Actua display in a metal frame with a glass back and is available in Pistachio, Hibiscus, Frost, and Obsidian.

The Pro models—the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL—feature Super Actua displays with a brightness of up to 3,600 nits. The screens feature a new type of coating designed to provide greater scratch resistance compared to the previous generation. The Pro series is available in Canyon, Fog, Olive, and Matte Obsidian.

All models come standard with 256 GB of internal storage, but additional options are available. Charging capabilities have been updated and now include Qi 2.2 compatibility at 25 W for the Pixel 11 and the Pro models. The Pixel 11 Pro XL’s wired charging speed delivers 15 hours of battery life after a 15-minute charging cycle.

Camera System Improvements

Furthermore, the camera has been updated on all three devices. The Pixel 11 features a new 48-megapixel main sensor with 56% higher light sensitivity for low-light situations. Its telephoto lens now supports 30x super zoom.

The Pixel 11 Pro series offers additional improvements:

  • An improved 48-megapixel telephoto camera with a larger image sensor and 30% higher light sensitivity.
  • Support for Portrait Mode at 5x zoom.
  • A Pro Zoom feature with up to 120x zoom.
  • In low-light conditions, the Tensor G6’s image signal processor (ISP) steps in to enhance the image.

Combined with software updates, shooting speeds in Night Mode are up to 4.5 times faster than before.

Tensor G6 and AI Integration

The Tensor G6 SoC is the heart of the Pixel 11 series. According to technical specifications, it delivers a 25% increase in web browsing speed and a 15% reduction in app launch times. The TPU’s computing power has increased by 50%, enabling on-device AI tasks to be processed up to 3.5 times faster once smaller models can be run locally on the device.

The Pro models introduce “HiLight,” a notification system that uses colored LED lights around the camera flash. This lets you see information at a glance—such as Gemini status indicators or custom-colored notifications for specific contacts—without having to wake up the home screen. In addition, the SoC is paired with 12 GB of RAM in the 256 GB models and 16 GB of RAM in the more expensive 512 GB versions. The standard Pixel 11 continues to offer a maximum of 12 GB of RAM.

To counter ever-evolving security threats, Google has implemented a new Titan M3 security chip. Working in conjunction with the Tensor G6 processor, the system introduces post-quantum cryptography to secure the device’s boot process.

Google has committed to providing operating system updates, security patches, and Pixel Drop for all three models for seven years.
