The feature is intended for users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot Premium license. It will be available on all major platforms, including Windows, Mac and web versions, as well as in the mobile apps for Android and iOS.
Unlike previous versions of intelligent summaries, which required an active transcript, this new approach uses the live context of the conversation. The AI generates the summary in real time, but the system does not save a text file after the meeting has ended. This allows companies to leverage AI productivity tools while adhering to internal data minimization policies.
Control of the feature is split between administrators and users. While system administrators can completely disable the feature for their organization, it remains active by default for those in a Copilot-enabled environment. Meeting organizers have the option to specify these settings before a call begins. In addition, participants can manage the feature during a live session via a drop-down menu in the top left corner of the user interface.
The rollout of this update is scheduled to begin in mid-June 2026, with full deployment expected by the end of the same month.
