The wallbox subsidy is intended to cover the costs for the purchase and installation of private charging infrastructure, including wallboxes and the necessary technical hardware. The funding also covers grid connection costs and necessary construction measures. To ensure long-term sustainability, the ministry requires that at least 20 percent of a building's parking spaces are pre-wired and at least six spaces per location are electrified.

How to apply for Wallbox funding?

The program is divided into three different applicant groups. Homeowners' associations, small to medium-sized companies and private landlords can apply for funding, which is processed on a first-come, first-served basis. For these groups, the application deadline is November 10, 2026. Large housing associations and real estate companies fall under a separate category where funding is awarded through a competitive process, with the application deadline being October 15, 2026.

The [funding amounts][1] are scaled according to the equipment installed at each parking space. The Ministry will provide up to €1,300 for a basic installation without a wallbox, €1,500 for installations including a wallbox and a maximum of €2,000 for charging points that support bidirectional charging. All subsidized charging points must not exceed a maximum power output of 22 kW.

The funding amount per parking space to be electrified is:

  • a maximum of 1,300 euros without an installed wallbox,
  • a maximum of 1,500 euros with a wallbox or
  • a maximum of 2,000 euros with a charging point that supports bidirectional charging.

This initiative is a central component of the Charging Infrastructure Master Plan 2030, which was approved by the Federal Cabinet in November 2025. The aim is to increase the willingness of property owners to invest and accelerate the transition to electromobility by making home charging more accessible.
