The ROG Crosshair 2006 is designed to support AMD Ryzen 9000 series CPUs. To meet the high computing requirements, the board has a power supply system with 20+2+2 phases at 110A, supplemented by ProCool II connectors and 10K capacitors. These components are cooled by oversized heat sinks integrated directly into the I/O cover.
Memory performance is improved by several hardware optimizations for DDR5 kits. The board utilizes a server-grade ultra-low-etch process, PCB back-drilling and NitroPath DRAM technology to improve signal integrity and stability for high-frequency memory modules.
Memory and expansion options
The motherboard offers two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for graphics and memory. The memory options include five M.2 slots, two of which are PCIe 5.0-compatible. To simplify installation, ASUS has implemented several hardware shortcuts, including the M.2 Q-Latch, Q-Release and Q-Slide mechanisms for tool-less drive installation.
One notable new feature is the 2-inch OLED screen on the primary M.2 slot. This display allows you to monitor system data in real time, such as CPU clock speeds and device temperatures, or upload personalized images and animations.
Network and external connectivity
The board offers a comprehensive range of connectivity options. Wireless networking is provided by WiFi 7, while wired connections are supported via 10G and 5G Ethernet ports.
The I/O panel has two USB4 ports for fast data transfer and screen output. In addition, the board has a dedicated internal connector for a USB Type-C port on the front panel that supports Quick Charge 4+ for up to 60W power supply.
Cable management and AIO integration
To reduce cable clutter, the ROG Crosshair 2006 features the ASUS AIO Q-Connector. This interface allows compatible all-in-one liquid coolers - especially the ROG Strix LC IV series - to draw power and control signals directly from the connector, eliminating the need for separate cables between the pump and motherboard.
ROG Crosshair 2006 price and availability
The ROG Crosshair 2006 is available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. According to ASUS, the motherboard costs 829 EUR, but the ROG Crosshair 2006 is already available on Amazon for 725 € (Affiliate).
