The most notable change to the system requirements is the requirement for ray tracing. Unlike in previous titles, where such features were optional enhancements, this technology is now mandatory across all settings. As a result, users without a graphics card that supports ray tracing will not be able to run the game—not even at the minimum requirements. This technical approach mirrors the requirements of other current high-fidelity releases and marks a departure from the broad optimization seen in “Doom Eternal.”
Bethesda and id Software have defined three different hardware tiers designed to ensure a consistent 60 frames per second. Importantly, performance data for high-refresh-rate monitors, such as those supporting 144 Hz, has not yet been announced.
To run the game at 1080p on low settings, a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or 11 is required. The processor must be an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, an Intel Core i7 10700K, or a more powerful model. Graphics requirements include an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super or an AMD Radeon RX 6600 with at least 8 GB of VRAM. The system requires 16 GB of RAM and 100 GB of storage space on an NVMe SSD.
For a high-quality gaming experience at 1440p, the recommended hardware requirements increase to an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X or an Intel Core i7 12700K as the CPU. The GPU requirements increase to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 with at least 10 GB of VRAM. RAM must be increased to 32 GB, while storage remains at a 100-GB NVMe SSD.
To achieve 4K resolution at Ultra settings, current-generation high-end hardware is required. While the CPU and RAM requirements remain identical to those of the recommended tier (Ryzen 7 5700X/i7 12700K and 32 GB RAM), the graphics card requirements are significantly higher. Players will need an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 or an AMD Radeon RX 9700XT with at least 16 GB of VRAM.

The increase in minimum requirements has caused discontent within the gaming community. Comparisons are often drawn to “Doom Eternal,” which could be played even on entry-level graphics cards like the GeForce 1050 Ti. The shift to mandatory ray tracing has led to widespread criticism on social media, where users have expressed concern about the loss of optimization and the exclusion of players with older hardware.
