The new actuators are designed to fit into standard European flush-mount boxes, which typically have a diameter of 68 millimeters and a depth of 45 millimeters. By reducing the size of the devices, eQ-3 makes installation easier, even in tight electrical spaces. To further simplify the setup process, both models feature spring-loaded terminals on the front panel that speed up wiring.

Available Models and Features

Two versions of the hardware have been released, both of which support a 6 A load:

  • Homematic IP Switching Actuator (6 A) – Flush-Mount: A standard actuator for basic smart switching tasks.
  • Homematic IP Switching Actuator with Push-Button Input (6 A) – Flush-Mount: This version features an additional terminal that allows users to integrate existing physical wall switches or push buttons into the smart home system. It also supports the “Push-to-Pair” function, which enables a direct connection to up to four compatible push buttons or wall thermostats without requiring a central hub or gateway.

System Integration and Application Examples

These actuators are designed for building retrofits and make it possible to upgrade older electrical systems to smart home standards without extensive structural modifications. Once installed, the connected devices can be controlled via the Homematic IP app, wireless push-buttons, remote controls, or voice commands through Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The actuators can also be linked to wall-mounted thermostats to create automated climate control systems, such as those used for infrared heating panels.
