Improvements to the AMD Driver: RADV and RadeonSI

A significant portion of the 26.2.1 update is aimed at the AMD ecosystem. The RADV Vulkan driver includes several fixes specifically for Vulkan Video, with the AV1 implementation in particular having been improved. In addition, the developers have implemented fixes for the ACO compiler and the “Gang Submit” functionality. The RadeonSI Gallium3D driver has also received a series of stability patches to improve overall performance and reliability.

Intel ANV Driver Updates

The updates to the Intel ANV driver focus on memory management and shader processing. Specifically, this version ensures that the correct ray-tracing shader key pointers are passed within the system. Additionally, the ANV driver now requires that L1 and L2 caches be flushed after command buffers are completed to prevent data inconsistencies.

General Fixes to Mesa Components

In addition to the vendor-specific drivers, several core components of the Mesa project have been updated:

  • WSI and NIR: The code for Window System Integration (WSI) and NIR has undergone general maintenance, and bugs have been fixed.
  • Memory Management: Memory leaks in the reference counting of buffer objects were fixed in several minor drivers, helping to ensure that memory is not exhausted during prolonged use.

End of Life for the Mesa 26.1 Series

In addition to the new point release, Mesa 26.1.8 was released to fix remaining bugs in the previous quarter’s branch. This release is the final point release in the 26.1 series. Users currently using this branch are advised to switch to the 26.2 series to ensure they continue to receive security updates and bug fixes.
