Display and Design Technology
The new MatePad Air uses an inverted OLED display architecture, eliminating the need for an internal support frame. This structural change reduces both the tablet’s overall thickness and weight without decreasing the screen size. The chassis is made of metal and features a pearlescent e-coating, which causes the color to shift depending on lighting conditions. The new tablet is also available in a “PaperMatte Edition,” marking the transition from LCD to OLED. The 12-inch display offers a very high resolution of 2.8K and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. To minimize light reflections, Huawei has used a nanoscale etching process that reduces reflections while maintaining a paper-like feel for use with the stylus. Protective films that can be applied later have also been available for some time.

Productivity Integration and Accessories
The tablet is designed for use with the M-Pencil Pro and a Smart Magnetic Keyboard, allowing it to transform into a workstation for office tasks and sketching. Software integration includes Huawei Notes and GoPaint, which let you create digital drawings and edit documents directly on the device. This isn’t groundbreaking, but it has proven to be a very good combination that is even accepted and purchased by schools.
Audio and Battery Specifications
For audio output, the MatePad Air is equipped with a total of six speakers. This configuration includes a bass unit with four drivers, designed to deliver a balanced sound profile in a very compact chassis. Power is supplied by a large 10,100-mAh battery, which enables up to 16 hours of local HDR video playback. For charging, Huawei uses a 66-W SuperCharge Turbo mode, which can charge the battery to 42 percent within 30 minutes.
