The most important technical component of the Huntsman V3 Pro Mini 8 kHz is its second-generation (Gen-2) analog-optical switches. These switches use optical sensors to detect keystrokes and allow for a variable actuation distance ranging from 0.1 mm to 4.0 mm. Thanks to this adjustability, users can set the exact point at which a keystroke is registered.
A key feature of these switches is the “Rapid Trigger” function, which enables faster repeated inputs by resetting the key as soon as it is lifted, rather than waiting until it has passed a fixed reset point. The switches are rated for a lifespan of 100 million keystrokes. To enhance the acoustic profile and tactile feel, each switch is individually lubricated and surrounded by high-density foam damping. The manufacturer specifies a precision of 0.1 mm.
Input Performance and Latency Reduction
The device uses 8,000-Hz HyperPolling, which increases the data transfer rate between the keyboard and the computer to eight times the industry-standard rate. Technical tests show a latency of 0.48 ms. This hardware performance is complemented by the “Advanced Input Control Suite,” which consists of several software and firmware-level enhancements:
- Snap Flex: Optimized input registration.
- Snap Tap: Priority-based input switching.
- Dynamic Keystroke: The ability to assign multiple actions to a single key depending on the key travel.
- Dual-Keypress Priority: Logic for processing simultaneous inputs based on predefined priorities.
The keyboard uses a 60-percent layout, in which the numeric keypad, function row, and navigation keys have been removed to create more desk space for mouse movements. The chassis consists of an upper section made of a 5052 aluminum alloy with a brushed metal finish to prevent structural deformation. The keycaps are made of double-shot PBT, which is more resistant to wear and friction than conventional ABS plastic. To compensate for the reduced layout, the multifunction keys function as 4-way arrow keys when tapped, enabling basic navigation without the need for a full-size keyboard.
Built-in Configuration and Web Integration
The Huntsman V3 Pro Mini 8 kHz allows for hardware-level customization without the need for external software. Users can adjust the trigger point and sensitivity of the “Rapid Trigger” directly via the number pad. The internal memory can store up to six different profiles. Additionally, the keyboard is compatible with Synapse Web. This allows users to access configuration settings and Razer Chroma RGB quick effects via a web browser, ensuring that settings remain consistent across different hardware configurations and tournament environments without requiring local software installations.
The suggested retail price is €189.99, but on Amazon, the keyboard is selling for just under €208 (Affiliate).
