Although there are two 12V-2x6 power connectors, both do not need to be connected at the same time for the card to function. The Total Graphics Power (TGP) is 400 W—a load that a single 12V-2x6 connector can handle. The second connector serves as an alternative routing option for system builders to improve cable management and aesthetics. The physical layout of these connectors is as follows:
- Primary connector: Located on the top of the GPU in the standard position.
- Secondary connector: Located on the bottom of the card, hidden behind the GPU shroud near the PCIe x16 slot.
When both cables are connected, the system uses only one active power source.
VRM and PCB Design
The “Hall Of Fame Extreme” features a robust power delivery system designed for stability under heavy load. The GPU is supported by a 20-phase power delivery architecture, while the GDDR7 memory is powered by a 4-phase design.
Electrical components include:
- A digital PWM controller.
- Integrated eFuse protection.
- Special HOF-branded inductors.
These components are mounted on a custom-designed white PCB, whose key electrical connections are gold-plated to improve conductivity and durability.
The card operates in two main modes, each with different thermal and performance profiles:
- 1. OC Mode: In this configuration, the TGP increases to 400 W, allowing the GPU clock speed to reach 2,805 MHz.
- 2. Gaming Mode: This mode adheres to the reference TGP of 360 W, resulting in a GPU clock speed of 2,655 MHz.
Availability and Price
Currently, the GALAX GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme is available exclusively on the Chinese market. There is no official confirmation regarding a release in Western regions. The card is priced at 19,999 yuan, which, at the current exchange rate, is equivalent to approximately 2,674 euros or 2,994 U.S. dollars.
