Swissbit N7000 PCIe Gen4 M 2 NVMe SSDs (Image © Swissbit)
The N7000 series uses 3D TLC BiCS8 NAND and an energy-optimized architecture. This platform marks a shift in Swissbit's production strategy as it is the first PCIe SSD family to utilize the company's proprietary NAND packaging in addition to an in-house developed controller and firmware design. This internal development is intended to increase independence and stability within the supply chain.
To maintain response speed while minimizing power consumption, the platform uses a DRAM-less controller with host memory buffer (HMB). For use in environments with unstable power supply, the SSDs have NVMe power failure notification. Data protection is ensured by AES-256 encryption, TCG Opal 2.0 and Crypto Erase.
Configuration and temperature ranges
The N7000 is available in M.2 2242 and M.2 2280 form factors with storage capacities from 240 GB to 3.84 TB. The series is divided into two temperature classes to suit different industrial environments. The C-grade variant, which operates at temperatures from 0 to +70 degrees Celsius, is intended for use in POS systems, ATMs and digital signage. The I-grade variant, which covers a temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius, is designed for automation, robotics and industrial image processing. Optional heat sinks are available to further control heat dissipation.

High endurance and specialty models
For workloads with frequent write cycles, Swissbit has introduced the N7600 model. Using pSLC technology, these drives offer more than ten times the write endurance of standard TLC configurations. The N7600 is available in capacities from 80 GB to 1.28 TB, is qualified for industrial temperature ranges and is suitable for logging and continuous data acquisition. The company is also developing the N7001 and N7601 models. These upcoming variants will offer hardware-based fast erase, write protection and optional conformal coating to meet the needs of safety-critical and highly ruggedized environments.
Market availability
The N7000 C-Class variants are currently entering the market and engineering samples are available for immediate testing. The I-Class versions as well as the N7001 and N7601 models are expected to be launched by mid-year.
