The platform is designed for PCIe 5.0 x4 performance per drive and offers a bandwidth of up to 128 Gbps for each SSD. To achieve this, the host system must support PCIe lane bifurcation. The card is compatible with a PCIe x8 slot configured as x4/x4 or a PCIe x16 slot configured as x4/x4/x4/x4, ensuring that each drive maintains a dedicated connection for maximum throughput.
Optimized Maintenance and Accessibility
To reduce system downtime, the MB303E5P-B utilizes a rear-access design. Two removable caddies are positioned on the PCIe slot bracket, allowing technicians to replace or service SSDs without opening the system chassis. The tool-less installation process simplifies deployment and validation, which is particularly beneficial in environments with frequent drive replacement.
Thermal Management and Power Management
Since PCIe Gen5 SSDs generate significant heat under sustained load, the MB303E5P-B features an active cooling system. This consists of a frameless 50-mm fan and a sealed air chamber. The design directs air through a controlled internal path to dissipate heat across both drives, thereby reducing the likelihood of thermal throttling.
The card also features Active Power Technology (APT), which ensures that the fan and LED indicators are only active when an SSD is physically installed. An EMI ground is also integrated to protect the drives from electrical interference.
Industrial Use and Specialized Applications
The MB303E5P-B was developed for a variety of data-intensive scenarios, including AI and machine learning pipelines, telecommunications network platforms, and system validation labs. For installations in high-vibration environments—such as industrial PCs or transportation systems—the card supports the optional MB221TP-1B screw-mount bracket. This accessory replaces the tool-less slot with a screw-mounted mechanism to ensure mechanical stability during operation.
