The highlight of the new release is the introduction of a new hardware enablement stack. This stack integrates key packages from Ubuntu 26.04 to ensure better compatibility and performance on modern hardware. Specifically, the update implements the Linux kernel 7.0 and the Mesa 26.0 graphics drivers.

Users with newer hardware components, as well as the gaming and enthusiast communities, will benefit from this update. The updated GPU drivers and kernel are designed to offer a more feature-rich and powerful experience compared to earlier versions of the 24.04 series.

In addition to the standard version, several official variants have been updated to version 24.04.5 LTS. These include Kubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu MATE, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu Studio, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, Ubuntu Cinnamon, and Ubuntu Unity. All corresponding installation media are now available for download.
