The T1 has an internal storage capacity of 512GB, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a pre-installed Truth Social application, as well as standard features such as voice calls, SMS messaging and camera functions.
The physical design of the smartphone exceeds the dimensions of the iPhone 17, with the 3.5mm audio jack standing out as an unconventional feature in modern mobile devices. Despite these technical specifications, the project has been criticized for its production details. Originally marketed as “Made in the USA”, the company later removed this description from its website and replaced it with the phrase “American Proud Design”. The packaging now reads “Proudly Assembled in the USA,” a designation that is permissible under U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines when final assembly is done domestically, even for imported components. Trump Mobile has not disclosed any further details about the manufacturing process.
One noticeable inconsistency in the design appeared on the back of the device, where the US flag has 11 horizontal stripes instead of the usual 13. Analysts speculate that the missing two stripes may symbolize the “Trump Mobile” branding as the 13th stripe, although no official explanation has been given. The White House has not confirmed whether US President Donald Trump is using the device.
The delayed launch of the T1, following an announcement in June 2025 with a planned release date of August 2025, has drawn criticism. For nine months, the company avoided responding to customer or media inquiries, raising concerns about transparency. The recent delivery of test units to media outlets such as NBC News reflects efforts to close these gaps, although the long-term viability of the product remains uncertain.
With its hybrid production approach and unique design elements, the T1 underscores the challenges of balancing political branding with technical and regulatory standards in the smartphone market.
