It feels like an eternity since we first roamed the streets of Los Santos in GTA V. After almost 13 years, the most legendary game series in the world is now celebrating its long-awaited comeback. After several postponements in the past, the release date as previously reported has been set for some time: Grand Theft Auto VI will officially be released on November 19, 2026.

For the time being, however, only console gamers will be able to enjoy the title. The launch is planned exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X and S. Pre-orders for these platforms will be possible from June 25 in the digital stores. As usual with Rockstar Games in the past, PC players will have to be patient: The release for the PC is currently not scheduled until 2027.

Jason, Lucia and the state of Leonida

This time we are transported to the fictional US state of Leonida, an unmistakable and sunny homage to Florida. At the center of the action are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. As players, we accompany the duo - and many other characters - on their sometimes merciless fight for survival through the state.

One particularly interesting aspect of GTA VI is the dynamics of the two main characters. It is the first game in the series to focus on such a deep relationship dynamic between the main characters. Rockstar is also making history: with Lucia, we control the first playable female main character of the modern GTA era, which promises a completely new narrative perspective.

From Vice City to the Grassrivers

The game world of GTA VI promises to be gigantic and extremely detailed. We finally return to the neon-lit Vice City, which shines in new splendor. But this is only a small part of the map. Our journey will take us through a variety of vibrant areas, including the picturesque Leonida Keys, the dense and swampy Grassrivers, the port city of Port Cellhorn, as well as Ambrosia and the rugged outskirts of Mount Kalaga.

The previous trailers have already presented an absolutely impressive graphics engine that sets new standards in terms of lighting, NPC density and environmental details. Especially in view of the later PC release in 2027, we in the editorial team are of course already extremely excited to see what the minimum hardware requirements will be to conjure up this splendor on the screen.

Conclusion and unanswered questions

Grand Theft Auto VI promises to be absolutely worth the long wait. The return to Vice City, the fresh protagonist duo and the breathtaking graphics are definitely increasing our anticipation.

What is still pending, however, is concrete information on the exact prices and the different versions or editions that Rockstar will be offering at launch. However, we should finally have some clarity here at the latest when pre-orders go live.
