The newly identified variant uses the GB205-200-KA-A1 processor, which is identified by the device ID 2F06. This differs from the original GeForce RTX 5060 from 2025, which used the GB206-250 processor and the device ID 2D05. Aside from the internal identification, there is a significant change in the physical packaging. While the GB206 chip uses a square package, the GB205 version features a rectangular design identical to that of the GeForce RTX 5070. This includes matching alignments, QR code placements, and MLCC layouts associated with the larger GB205 architecture.
The card retains a rated power of 145 W. However, Yeston has implemented a 16-pin power connector for this model. This is an unusual choice for the RTX 5060 class, as the power draw typically does not require a newer, high-performance connector. In contrast, other 2026 models from manufacturers such as MSI, ASUS, and Gigabyte continue to use the standard 8-pin connector.
The printed circuit board (PCB) used in this model appears to be derived from an RTX 5070 design. One notable difference is that this PCB supports eight memory chip slots, whereas many GB206-based PCBs support only four. In this specific 8-GB configuration, only four of the available slots are occupied.
For thermal management, Yeston has reused a cooler typically reserved for the RTX 5070 class. While this provides cooling hardware designed for power draw levels higher than the targeted 145 W, it results in a larger card size. According to reports, Maxsun is pursuing a similar strategy with its own GB205-based RTX 5060 models.
The “KA” suffix in the GPU designation suggests that one memory channel may have been disabled. This configuration allows for the use of a partially disabled GB205 chip while still meeting the official GeForce RTX 5060 specifications and maintaining a total memory capacity of 8 GB.
