WiFi 7 Throughout the Home

At the heart of the new system is the WiFi 7 standard, which utilizes both the 5 GHz and 6 GHz frequency bands. By leveraging the expanded frequency spectrum in the 6 GHz range, the system supports wireless multi-gigabit mesh networks.

A key technical feature is the implementation of full-duplex multi-link operation (MLO). This allows devices to send and receive data simultaneously across multiple frequency bands, reducing latency and increasing overall throughput. These specifications are designed to provide connection speeds and stability that rival a wired Ethernet connection, without requiring physical cabling throughout the building.

Scalability and Network Optimization

The system is designed for modular expansion through the use of Express 7 nodes. These nodes can be added to the existing network to expand coverage without requiring a complete reconfiguration of the system.

To ensure the network remains in optimal condition, UniFi has integrated several optimization tools:

  • Seamless Roaming: Facilitates the handoff of devices between access points without connection interruptions.
  • Signal indicators: Built-in tools that help users determine the optimal physical placement of nodes.
  • Channel AI: An automated system that analyzes the surrounding RF environment to assign the highest-performing available frequency spectrum, thereby reducing interference.

Tiered Control and Ecosystem Integration

The system is based on a tiered access model. Standard users can utilize the basic settings for immediate connectivity, while advanced users can access detailed network controls via desktop or mobile interfaces.

The platform supports infrastructure expansion through a simplified integration process. This includes the integration of network switches, outdoor access points, and 5G connectivity modules. For developers and enterprise users, the system provides comprehensive insight into performance metrics through detailed analytics and custom API integrations.

Secure VPN to Your Home

For users who need a consistent network even while traveling, UniFi offers a Travel Router. With this device, users can connect to a cell phone or a local Wi-Fi hotspot to extend their home network remotely.

The Travel Router automatically establishes a VPN connection to the home location. This configuration ensures that security policies remain in effect and allows users to maintain their geographic location—which is often necessary to access region-locked streaming services and corporate resources.

Fleet Management for Service Providers

Beyond individual home use, the updated Site Manager is designed for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) who manage multiple customer sites. The management suite includes:

  • Zero-Touch Provisioning: Enables the deployment of new customer networks with minimal on-site configuration effort.
  • Global Logging:

Centralized logs that aggregate data from all managed sites to speed up troubleshooting. - Coordinated Updates: The ability to deploy firmware and configuration updates simultaneously across an entire device fleet. - Permissions Management: Flexible, team-based access controls to restrict administrative privileges based on role.
