Acoustics and Non-Newtonian Damping
The HS80 v2 MAX WIRELESS uses 50-mm laminate drivers equipped with non-Newtonian damping. In conventional audio drivers, loud sounds such as explosions or gunshots can cause the diaphragm to continue vibrating, which often drowns out subsequent quieter sounds. The non-Newtonian damping system was developed to reduce these residual vibrations, allowing the diaphragm to stabilize quickly. This technical improvement ensures that quiet acoustic cues—such as footsteps or the reloading of weapons—remain audible and distinct even during intense gameplay.
For PC users, the hardware supports Dolby Atmos, which offers spatial audio mapping. This enables the precise three-dimensional placement of sounds, allowing the user to discern the direction and distance of sound sources above, behind, or to the side of their position.
The headset weighs 370 grams and features a sturdy aluminum frame for a long service life. For extended use, it is equipped with memory foam ear cushions covered in breathable fabric. Weight distribution is ensured by a floating, adjustable headband that reduces pressure points and maintains the shape of the cushions even with repeated use.
Microphone and AI Noise Cancellation
Communication is handled by a broadcast-quality microphone with a 10-mm capsule. The microphone features a built-in pop filter to minimize popping sounds when speaking. For efficient operation, the system uses a “flip-to-mute” mechanism that allows the user to mute the microphone by lifting the arm. Integration with NVIDIA Broadcast provides an additional layer of audio filtering. For users with a compatible NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics card, the software uses artificial intelligence to detect and remove ambient noise—such as clicks from mechanical keyboards and fan noise—ensuring that voice transmission remains clear to teammates.
The headset also features a simultaneous dual Wi-Fi connection system, allowing the device to maintain active connections over both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth at the same time. This configuration lets you enjoy gaming audio on one device while streaming music or making phone calls on another.
The HS80 v2 MAX WIRELESS is compatible with numerous platforms, including:
- PC
- Mac
- PlayStation
- Nintendo Switch
- Mobile devices
Battery Performance and Power Management
The device is designed for extended use, though battery life varies depending on the connection type and lighting settings:
- 2.4 GHz connection: Up to 110 hours of runtime with RGB lighting disabled and up to 65 hours with RGB lighting enabled.
- Bluetooth connection: Up to 130 hours of runtime with RGB lighting disabled and up to 80 hours with RGB lighting enabled.
The charging process is optimized for minimal downtime, as a 15-minute quick charge provides about 6 hours of usage time. The built-in controls include a multifunctional volume control, a power switch, and a dedicated Bluetooth switch.
CORSAIR iCUE
System customization is handled via the CORSAIR iCUE software. Through this interface, you can:
- 1.Enable and configure NVIDIA Broadcast settings.
- 2.Adjust equalizer (EQ) settings or load preconfigured audio profiles.
- 3.Customize the RGB lighting to match the rest of the hardware in your setup.
