Hardware Architecture and Density

The PowerStore Elite is based on a modernized hardware stack featuring Intel Xeon Scalable processors with a 50% increase in core count, as well as DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen 5. To improve internal load balancing and failover, the system features a 200 Gb RDMA node connection.

The platform is available in three configurations—the 1500, 5500, and 9500 models. Each model uses a 3U chassis that accommodates 40 drives and achieves an effective capacity of 5.8 petabytes. By using industry-standard E3 NVMe flash instead of proprietary hardware, the platform aims to offer customers more stable pricing and greater supply chain flexibility. Connectivity options include 64 Gb FC and 200/400 Gb Ethernet.

Software Optimization and Data Efficiency

Software enhancements in the Elite series deliver a threefold increase in performance and throughput. A key innovation is the “Autonomous Data Path,” which uses machine learning to optimize I/O for QLC and future SSDs. This allows enterprises to select storage media based on cost and capacity rather than performance tiers.

Dell has also increased its data reduction guarantee to 6:1, supported by hardware-assisted compression and non-aligned deduplication for unstructured data. Additionally, Metadata Acceleration has been integrated to speed up read operations by up to 70%, thereby reducing latency during file searches and large-scale data operations.

AI-Driven Operations and Security

To reduce operational overhead, the platform features built-in intelligence that automates workload balancing and performance optimization, reportedly reducing manual tasks by up to 95%. For larger deployments, Dell AIOps provides predictive insights and automated reporting to accelerate problem resolution.

Security is ensured by the new Cyber Detect integration. This tool monitors data at the byte level to identify ransomware variants with 99.99% accuracy, allowing administrators to locate the most recent clean copy of data for rapid recovery.

Infrastructure Integration and Cloud Mobility

The PowerStore Elite is designed for seamless modernization. Through mixed-generation clustering, new Elite systems can run alongside older PowerStore deployments, enabling the migration of workloads without downtime. The Lifecycle Extension Program further supports this through upgrades without data migration and expanded capacity options. For enterprises using private clouds, the platform is compatible with software stacks from Microsoft, Nutanix, Red Hat, and Broadcom. It supports both scale-up and scale-out architectures and offers flexible replication over Ethernet and Fibre Channel to ensure data mobility between on-premises and multi-cloud environments.

Availability

Dell PowerStore Elite is scheduled to launch globally in July 2026. The integrated Cyber Detect functionality will follow in the third quarter of 2026.
