At the heart of the system is the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 300 series, with the top configuration featuring the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. This CPU combines 16 Zen 5 cores and 40 RDNA 3.5 graphics processing units. For dedicated AI acceleration, the workstation features an XDNA-2 neural processing unit (NPU) that delivers up to 50 TOPS. Combining the resources of the CPU, GPU, and NPU, the platform offers a total AI performance of up to 126 TOPS. This architecture is designed for demanding professional workflows, including data analysis, content creation, and on-device AI queries.
Unified Memory and Support for On-Device Models
A key feature of the PRO MAX EDGE AI+ is support for up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 unified memory. In this architecture, the CPU and the integrated Radeon 8060S GPU share the same memory pool, allowing up to 96 GB to be allocated as graphics memory.
This expanded memory access enables the local execution of Large Language Models (LLMs) with up to 120 billion parameters—a task that typically requires much larger discrete GPUs. The actual performance and compatibility of these models depend on the specific architecture, quantization levels, software configuration, and context length used.
For workloads that exceed the capacity of a single unit, the PRO MAX EDGE AI+ supports multi-system clustering. This allows multiple workstations to be networked together to function as a single local cluster. Validation data shows that two-node systems can process selected models with 120B and 235B parameters. For even greater demands, a four-node cluster can support the DeepSeek V3.1 model with 671 billion parameters using Q4_0 quantization. This scalability enables teams to expand their local computing power as needed while maintaining full control over their IT infrastructure.
To ensure stability during sustained AI workloads, the system utilizes the Frozr AI Pro cooling system and Glacier Armor memory cooling. The cooling solution consists of a copper heat spreader, three heat pipes, and three active fans to efficiently dissipate heat. Additionally, specialized heatsinks are installed for the two PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD slots. The 4-liter aluminum chassis houses a 300-W power supply, eliminating the need for an external power supply. The chassis features a three-position physical power switch that allows users to switch between calibrated performance profiles to balance computing power, cooling, and noise levels without having to access software menus.
Connectivity
The workstation supports Wi-Fi 7 for fast wireless networking and offers extensive display options. Users can connect up to four monitors via HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, and two USB Type-C ports, which support a throughput of 40 Gbps and DisplayPort Alt Mode. Additional connectivity options for peripherals include USB Type-A ports, two audio jacks, an RJ45 Ethernet port, and an SD 4.0 UHS-II card reader.
