Software Packages and Version Information
Server Update 6.0.19 is provided as a bundled package. It contains the following application versions:
- UniFi Network: Version 10.6.106
- Identity Sync Service: Version 1.8.8
Improvements to System Administration and Backups
A significant portion of this update is dedicated to managing system backups and user access. Administrators can now implement configurable backup schedules and define multiple backup destinations. The update also introduces local backup management and a redesigned recovery process to reduce downtime during system recovery.
With regard to user authentication, the update introduces a configurable session duration for the “Stay Logged In” feature for local logins, allowing administrators to strike a balance between convenience and security requirements. In addition, the Control Plane settings now include reports on console resources, providing better insight into the server’s hardware utilization.
Network Connectivity and Security Updates
The update introduces several technical improvements regarding how the server handles external communication and certificates:
- Domain Name Support: Automatic certificates now support internationalized domain names, expanding compatibility for global deployments.
- Mail server configuration: For users of custom mail servers, a STARTTLS option has been added to enhance the security of system notifications.
- Update guidance: The system now provides specific guidance when an integrated device requires a newer application version than the one currently installed on the server.
Device Management and Ownership Transfers
To prevent unplanned interruptions, UniFi OS Server 6.0.19 now offers a manual override option for device upgrades, reboots, and resets. This ensures that critical operations are not interrupted by automated system tasks. The processes for ownership transfers have also been optimized. The system now displays a clearer “Pending” status during the transfer. For transfers involving UI accounts, the process is not completed until the recipient has officially accepted the invitation.
System Stability and Infrastructure Upgrades
This release includes extensive stability improvements in several core areas. The developers have focused on increasing the reliability of application installations, system-wide stability, and the reliability of UniFi OS backup and restore functions.
Specific reliability improvements have been made in the following areas:
- Authentication: Increased stability for two-factor authentication prompts.
- Synchronization: Improved reliability for system time synchronization.
- Hardware: Improved stability for storage and connected devices.
- Application Logic: Improved reliability for application rollbacks and updated behavior following operating system updates; the system now only updates applications for which automatic updates are enabled.
Operating System Migration
The underlying Linux distribution has been updated to Debian Trixie. This upgrade represents a fundamental change to the system’s foundation and is intended to provide a more up-to-date and secure environment. Please note that a working Internet connection is required for the server to successfully complete this distribution upgrade.
