AMD's first series of server microprocessors goes by the name of “EPYC”. The processors were first unveiled at AMD's Financial Analyst Day on May 16, 2017. The EPYC processors have been developed with the innovative Zen microarchitecture and replace the previous Opteron server family. EPYC processors support both single and dual socket configurations.

AMD will unveil its next-generation server processors, the EPYC Venice series, at the upcoming “Advancing AI” event on July 22 and 23. These CPUs represent the first implementation of the Zen 6 architecture for the server market and are heavily geared toward the requirements of traditional x86 enterprise environments.
