Following a beta testing phase that began in April, Proton 11.0-1 offers a stable release of the 11.0 series. The update is notable primarily for its switch to the upstream version, Wine 11.0. This transition from the Proton 10.0 series brings system-wide improvements and various bug fixes that have been refined over the course of several testing rounds.

Expanded Software Support

This version significantly expands the selection of playable Windows games. Several titles that previously required experimental builds are now fully supported in the stable branch. These include DCS World Steam Edition, Resident Evil (1996), Resident Evil 2 (1998), Dino Crisis, Dino Crisis 2, Universe Generator: The Golden Sword, From Dust, Blaite, Don’t Die Dateless, Dummy!, Metal Gear Survive, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, Metal Fatigue, and Shogun: Total War.

In addition, Proton 11.0-1 offers initial compatibility for several titles that previously did not work on the platform, including X-Plane 12, Gothic 1 Classic, Deadly Premonition, Breath of Fire IV, and Unknown Faces.

System Improvements and Component Updates

In addition to the new games, the update also addresses certain software regressions. The developers have implemented fixes for the Rockstar Launcher to improve the display of pop-ups. The update also resolves critical issues with EA titles; specifically, it restores playability and fixes bugs in the Steam overlay, both of which were caused by a recently released update to the EA desktop application. Support for the Kodi media player has also been improved.

The update includes several upgrades to backend components to ensure performance stability:

  • DXVK: Updated to 2.7 Git.
  • VKD3D: Updated to 1.19 Git and VKD3D-Proton 20260410.
  • Wine Mono: Version 11.0.
  • Xalia: Version 0.4.9.
  • FEX: Version 2605 for ARM64EC builds.
  • DXVK-NVAPI: Version 0.9.1.
