The price adjustments are primarily due to the boom in artificial intelligence development, which has put significant pressure on the DRAM supply chain. As demand for high-capacity memory for AI applications rises, the resulting shortages and cost fluctuations have directly impacted the production costs of consumer-grade GPUs.

This is already the third price increase NVIDIA has implemented in 2026. The adjustments are expected to affect the entire RTX 5000 series and will not be limited to just the flagship models. However, price increases could be more pronounced for high-end variants, as DRAM accounts for a larger share of the total unit cost compared to entry-level models.

Market analysts predict that these repeated price increases will have a negative impact on the overall PC hardware market. Forecasts point to a possible decline in total hardware sales of 10 to 20 percent as consumers react to the higher costs. Despite this expected decline in sales volume, hardware vendors are still projected to see an increase in total revenue due to higher unit prices.
