As reported by our colleagues at Macrumors, the company is expected to launch a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip in late 2026. Work on this hardware was reportedly completed a few months ago. Unlike previous generations, the M6 cycle is expected to be short, as the company does not plan to release Pro or Max versions of the M6 chip.

This accelerated schedule is intended to quickly lead users to the M7 chip, which is scheduled for release in the first half of 2027. The M7 architecture has been specifically designed with optimizations to handle AI workloads more efficiently than its predecessors.

The launch of the M7 MacBook Pro will be accompanied by a structural redesign. This new look is said to match the design of a rumored high-end MacBook Pro with OLED touchscreen. Current industry indications suggest that these OLED-equipped models will have a slimmer chassis and could launch as early as late 2026 or early 2027.

However, these timelines are subject to change. Apple is currently struggling with increased manufacturing costs and ongoing memory chip shortages - both of which could impact the final release dates.

Beyond the MacBook Pro lineup, the first half of 2027 is expected to be a very active period for other product categories as well. Planned releases include updated iPad Pro models as well as a new generation of the iPhone range with the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air equipped with two cameras.
